Spiramycin is a type of bacteriostatic antibiotic that belongs to the macrolide group. It
acts by interfering with the synthesis of bacterial proteins, thereby inhibiting their growth.
Spiramycin is effective against Gram-positive bacteria (such as Streptococcus spp.),
Mycoplasma spp., and some Gram-negative bacteria like Pasteurella multocida. When
taken orally, Spiramycin is rapidly absorbed and widely distributed in various body tissues
including the lungs, spleen, kidneys, liver, and bones.
